Adventure at Kenilworth Castle - 20th June 2005

The White Knights went off to explore the inside of the castle – we all had a clipboard and pictures to look out for.
We walked through the gardens, which were a bit like a maze,

and then we had to look out for the toilet chute. We all managed to find it – it wasn’t too smelly but proved fascinating. Counting fireplaces, looking out for the Black Knights, working out why there were no ceilings, discovering where the roof should have been – all things that we had to wonder about.
We were very careful when climbing up to the battlements – up wooden steps, stone steps, spiral staircase – all to see the view and imagine how big the lake would have been. We spotted the Great Hall – the place where they had their parties – as well as having a good look at the keep. We also discovered the dungeons – very dark and a bit scary – but still good to go and explore

We met up for lunch – picnics outside are always great fun – the trees provided us with welcome shade and we all had a good rest.

After lunch, we changed over and the White Knights went to discover the water meadows and the Black Knights went inside the castle. We met up again at 1.30 to go shopping and when all our money was spent, we returned to the coach. Lionel was waiting for us and put on ‘Finding Nemo’ for us to watch as we made our way home. Several of us fell asleep on the way back – some of the grown ups wanted to go to sleep too! We arrived back outside Playgroup where our Mummies and Daddies were waiting – wow – what a wonderful day!!

Helen and all the staff would like to say thank you to all the children – they were all a pleasure to take out. Definitely a day to remember!!!
