KINETON,
15th December, 2005 --- Kineton Playgroup announced today
that it has been awarded lottery funding to build a purpose-built
pre-school facility on land situated at
Kineton
Primary School
.
A
£177,450 grant has been awarded by the West Midlands Committee of
the Big Lottery Fund for the building of the new facility.
This will enable Kineton Playgroup to move out of its current
location in the Methodist Hall in the village and into the new
amenity as soon as it is completed, which is anticipated to be early
2007.
Commenting
on the announcement, Sally Flynn, Chair of Kineton Playgroup, said:
“We are absolutely thrilled with the news.
The lottery funding has made the Playgroup move a reality.
This heralds a new era for the group.
We will be able to extend and increase our sessions, enhance
our development facilities and increase the number of pre-school
children who can join.
Add to this the exciting new services we will be bringing to
children of all primary and pre-school ages as well as many adults,
we feel that Kineton Playgroup will soon become a central focus for
the whole community.”
Following
the move, Kineton Playgroup will offer additional play and education
sessions for children.
The playgroup will also provide an after-school club, a
drop-in service for carers, facilities for adult education in basic
skills, lectures and health education sessions with local health
professionals and creative workshops at weekends for both adults and
children.
The grant, which will be given over one year, will contribute
to the building construction costs, performance bond and legal fees.
John
Taylor, Big Lottery Fund Head of West Midlands Region, said: “This
grant will be an extra cause to celebrate this Xmas for the people of Kineton and the
surrounding villages. They will benefit significantly from the new
building and the enhanced services that the playgroup will be able
to offer in 2007. The help we've been able to give the playgroup is
a perfect example of how the £6.7
million being announced in grants this week in the West Midlands
region will bring real improvements to communities and particularly
to those most in need.”
