KINETON,
9th March, 2007 --- Kineton Playgroup announced today
that building work on its new premise started earlier this week and
they have appointed local builders Allworks Ltd for the project.
Allworks
plan to complete the main building work in September with Kineton
Playgroup opening the new amenity by the beginning of January 2008.
Allworks who moved to Kineton from
Warwick
five years ago, specialise in school work.
Most recently they have been working for the Coventry
Diocesan Board of Education.
In
December 2005 Kineton Playgroup was awarded £177,450 in lottery
funding to build a purpose built pre-school facility on land
situated at
Kineton
Primary School
. Since then
Kineton Playgroup has received £50,000 capital funding from
Surestart and are doing additional fundraising themselves to meet
the remaining costs, with £15,000 already raised.
Ruth
McFarlane, new
building project co-ordinator, for Kineton Playgroup said: “We are
delighted to have started to build our new amenity.
Allworks have come highly recommended and we are thrilled
that they have been so responsive to our requirements.
We are now looking forward to the day we can open the doors
for the first Kineton Playgroup session by January 2008.”
Kineton
Playgroup also announced this week that they are recruiting a Centre
Manager to join the playgroup in the summer and help with the
transition to the new building and the expanded services.
Following
the opening of the new building, Kineton Playgroup will offer
additional play and education sessions for children.
The playgroup will also provide a drop-in service for carers,
facilities for adult education in basic skills, lectures and health
education sessions with local health professionals and eventually
creative workshops at weekends for both adults and children.
In September 2006 Kineton Playgroup opened an after-school
club and it plans to open a breakfast club next year.
