How will my child
benefit?
Kineton
Playgroup is a member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance and is committed
to providing the highest standard of education and learning for your
child.
Our
curriculum is based on the Early Learning Goals as outlined in the
Foundation Stage documents published by the DfEE.
This curriculum underpins all future learning by supporting,
fostering, promoting and developing children’s progress in the following
six key areas:
-
Personal, Social and Emotional Development,
-
Communication, Language and Literacy,
-
Mathematical Development,
-
Knowledge and Understanding of the World,
-
Physical Development
-
Creative Development.
We
operate a topic based curriculum where a different mini theme is chosen
for a 1, 2, 3 or 4 week time slot. We
aim to provide an environment in which children will be encouraged to
learn through play, promoting all aspects of their development using the
Early Learning Goals from the Foundation Stage as a basis for developing a
broad based curriculum for each individual.
We
keep a daily diary for each child highlighting their achievements, as well
as a folder containing samples of their work. This is an example of the
daily diary:

Hot and cold.
Made
an iceberg covered with glittery ice as a cold home for a penguin.
Had first go on splosh computer programme. Drew a beautiful picture
which was saved and printed out too! Had great fun in the role play
area cooking hot food and keeping food cold in the fridge.
Up and down.
Used
cutting skills to create a ladder for a snake to travel up and down.
Spent time on the slide, practising going up the steps and down the
slide.

All
children are observed on a regular basis which helps in their progress
through our curriculum. These records are available at any time for parents to see.
Children take great pride in their folders and self-assessments. We
hold parent’s evenings where parents can review their child’s folder
once a term. Staff members are available for consultation before, during
and after each parent’s evening; all records are strictly confidential
and become your property when your child leaves our setting.
What facilities are
available?
Our wonderful new building, Helen's Place is named after our former supervisor, Helen Brereton. It comprises two rooms, one we use as a general playroom
and the other as a quiet room. We
have an enclosed and secure garden area with a wide variety of equipment
to promote physical development. There
is a fully equipped kitchen for use during cookery sessions. The toilets adjoin the main room and are specially sized for small children to enable them to use them independently if they are able.
What are the
Playgroup policies?
We
are continually reviewing and updating our policies in conjunction with
our membership of the Pre-School Learning Alliance. A copy of all the policies we have adopted is available at
Playgroup.
