| All
staff at playgroup would like to offer our congratulations to
Kineton Playgroup Committee for their recent accolade awarded at the
Warwickshire Childcare Awards - Employer of the Year!!! What an
achievement and one that we, as a staff, feel privileged to be part
of. Thank you and well done! We did enjoy the ceremony (especially
after the announcement and the bottle of champagne tasted lovely!)

We are very
busy at this stage of the term and although there are only 2 weeks
to go before we say goodbye to some of our children, there is an
awful lot of things that have still got to happen. We are busy
practising all the different races for the Sports Days, looking
forward to some more swimming at Kineton Primary School pool, a
picnic and treasure hunt for the leavers at Glebe House and our own
Teddy Bear’s picnic on the last day of term.
Looking back
over the term, it is amazing what has been achieved. The outing to
Stratford Butterfly Farm was a success! It was so exciting to go on
a coach, have a picnic in the bandstand, talk to lots of big
children from Birmingham doing a geography field study, play in
Stratford park as well as seeing all the butterflies, ants, spiders,
beetles and iguanas. The Butterfly Farm made us very welcome - James
was brilliant at showing us lots of creatures. It was strange to see
lots of brothers and sisters there too - Class 2 had heard about us
going there and had decided it was a good idea (but perhaps not on
the same day?)
We had great
fun at Playgroup watching our caterpillars hatch, building an ant
farm and a wormery. The discovery table was very interesting and
magnifying glasses are now a permanent feature during every session
(just in case we discover more fascinating things!) We discovered
lots of facts and figures about out natural world and made a volcano
erupt, put bats in caves, lived in a tropical paradise as well as
making a polar region in the role play area. The igloo was rather
small but proved accessible in a variety of different ways by the
smaller child!
We have spent
time looking at how our bodies function. Foot painting, exercises,
using our hands to catch, our brains to remember as well as
discovering exactly what happens to our food when we eat it proved
very popular. Suffice to say that it is amazing how long an
intestine actually is! We have highlighted the need for being safe
in the sun and emphasised the need for healthy eating. This included
cheese and crackers for snack, fruit salad kebabs, wholemeal toast,
porridge and vegetables and dips - yum yum.
Words for
numbers was a short burst on numbers and mathematical concepts. We
used the estimation jar again - lots of thinking required there!
Summer days
have arrived - we didn’t mean the weather to get as hot as it has
been but all our children know how to keep cool and are experts at
making sure they are wearing a hat and sun cream. We are enjoying
swimming in our role play area - the beach hut looked beautiful but
sorry to say, it did not survive the thunderstorm!!
Finally,
before the end of term, the staff would like to thank everyone for
their help, support and encouragement over the past year. We would
like to wish everyone a happy summer break - rest and relaxation if
you can!!
